Port Harcourt recently witnessed a major boost in community engagement as over 2,500 residents gathered at Verde Gardens, Stadium Road, for the city’s first-ever “Movie in the Park” event. The open-air movie screening, held in early September 2025, featured a popular Nollywood comedy film and was followed by a lively after-party headlined by social media personality Gilmore. The initiative was organized to foster a sense of community, promote local culture, and offer residents a unique entertainment experience under the stars.

Despite a brief rain interruption, the event resumed smoothly, with attendees staying throughout the evening to enjoy the film and live performances. Organizers set up a large screen, sound system, and seating areas to accommodate the growing crowd, many of whom expressed excitement and gratitude for the innovative gathering. The success of the event signals growing demand for creative, community-driven social experiences in Port Harcourt and hints at more such initiatives in the near future.
